Although acne may be incredibly embarrassing, rest assured it is the most common skin condition in the Unites States (American Academy of Dermatology.)
Let’s start by defining what acne is: Acne is the occurrence of inflamed or infected pores in the skin; a condition characterized by the following symptoms: blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules (known as pimples), cysts, and nodules.
How to treat Acne:
- Wash your face, twice daily (or after sweating) with a cleanser and warm water. Massage the cleanser over your face using your fingers to make small circles.
- Moisturize face in the morning and before bed.
- Apply CUROXEN to the affected areas.
- It can take up to 4-8 weeks for acne to clear. Continue to treat the skin after acne clears to prevent future breakouts.
- DO NOT pop pimples. This can often make the pimple much worse and even cause scarring. If you touch your pimples, make sure your hands are very well cleaned.
- If acne is persistent and does not respond after 4-8 weeks to the above treatment plan, see a dermatologist.

Tips to prevent an acne breakout:
- Avoid touching your face. Your fingers contain germs and bacteria that you do not want to end up on your face.
- Acidic foods can have adverse effects. If you eat a lot of oranges, pineapple, or tomatoes, try not eating acidic foods for a bit and see if you see a change.
- Do not use a washcloth or sponge to wash your face, because it can irritate the skin.
- Regularly clean make up brushes.
- Clean items that regularly touch your face, such as glasses or your phone. You can use a wipe to quickly clean your phones cover and screen.
- Only eat hormone free eggs, milk, and meat. The added hormones in these items today can aggravate hormonal acne.
- Throw out old or expired make up or face care products.
- If your hair is prone to getting oily be sure to clean hair daily, to prevent the oils from getting on your face.
- Clean pillows and towels often. Try using scent-free detergents. Many skin types get aggravated by fragrances.
- If you wear makeup try using a mineral powder that won’t clog your pores.
- Diet can have a significant effect on overall skin health. Try limiting your intake of sugars, saturated fats, vegetable oils, or processed foods.
